Hey guys,

So I have a 90g SA cichlid tank with a 6" severum, 4" firemouth, 4" salvini, 3" Green terror and an 8" senegal bichir.
I've decided to try a shoal of RBP's, and my plan is to but the piranha in the 90g, and move the fish that are there now into a 55g so the piranha can have the larger tank, but the 55 is not set up yet.
If i buy the RBPs at about 2-3", can i just mix them in with the existing stock temporarily (no more than 2 months) until I have a different tank for them? Or should I wait until the new RBPs can have the tank to themselves?

Thanks in advance!

you can setup the 55g now and move some of the tank water and filter media from the 90g then move your stock slowly to allow bacterias to slowly develop in the new filter. this shouldn't take more than couple weeks.

Your going backwards - 2-3" fish are better suited for the 55 and 3-8" better suited in the 90. When adults the Cichlids are overstocked for the 55 yet perfect for the 90.
Either or an upgrade will be needed to house both. IMO - mixing juvi Piranha with Gt's and Salvini for even 1hr can result tradgically for the Piranha. Piranha are aggressive eaters but not very aggressive towards defending themselves.

i agree with the others.. wait it out.

Piranha are fin nippers, If they kill all your fish (which is the most likely outcome) they will surely nip the hell out of them.

they usually grow ~1" a month and slows down after hit 6-7"
some might grow bigger than others, some might be smaller.
