I'm getting a freshwater toadfish this Saturday. The tank I am buying also houses two archers, a Colombian white-tipped catfish (who I love, but don't have room for) and a freshwater eel.

Here's my question!
I am going to be keeping the toadfish in a 55 gallon, with a Fluval 405. Will this tank be big enough for the toadfish and the eel, or will the eel become too big for this gallonage? (Is that a word? You guys know what I mean, right?)

depends on what kind of eel, lots of freshwater varieties

He said it was a true moray. (Here I was thinking moray eels were saltwater.) That's all I know, I'll have pictures Saturday (maybe Sunday, I may be too tired after moving the tanks and getting everything set up on Saturday.)

We got to see them eat, it was super cool. I am beginning to see the allure of monster fish. Even though they are relatively small still!

It's very likely you have brackish fish coming.. G-tiles are often in the trade as Freshwater Morays and are a true eel. depending on the species the toadfish is liekly a Brackishfish as well. The species you listed in general are brackish species not true FW or SW.

^^ +1

To give you the most accurate answer, need to know the species of fish. IF the eel is a G-tile, and the toadfish is the usual one I'm thinking. a 55 would be absolute min imo and tbh I would expect a 125 for them fully grown to be comfortable.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try to get some pictures Saturday when I pick them up. The guy who has them doesn't know scientific names, so pictures are the best I'll be able to do. Maybe then I can look at them more extensively, I'll be able to compare with pictures online.

They aren't fish I am buying. I'm buying a 125 for my goldfish, and these are the fish that are in it right now. The family made me promise to keep and take good care of the toadfish, and I think the eel would be the only one that could even conceivably live in a 55, since archers and the catfish get very large, and are not bendy like the eel. If not, then it will just be Sprocket the toadfish in the 55 by her lonesome.

Oh, and here's the picture I have of her. I saw her in person, and she is REALLY cute! She almost looks like a puppy you just want to cuddle...but I know better than to try!
