A friend of mine is looking to down size on the hobby and looks like I'll be getting first dibs on the spoils. He's going to be selling me a 75 gallon tank and am wondering what you guys think would be a good Cichlid to stock it with? I'm also not opposed to getting a breeding pair of Cichlids either. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding so some help would be appreciated :D

I think a pair of JD's would be cool. But it would depend entirely on what your wanting to do. you could go with many small cichlids, or a pair of larger such as JD's. If your wanting more smaller fish, i think africans would be cool

I'm heavily leaning toward getting just one or two SA/CA Cichlids. The main reason being my 180 gallon cichlid community is all African save for four BP/BP hybrids

I would say JD's then if it were my tank. Or better yet EBJD's :D

Here is a good artical to read if you are actually wanting to try to produce EBJD fry, its possible but complicated lol

Wow reading that kinda flashed me back to breeding corn snakes and ball pythons lol.

To answer the question simply...2 ebjd's will produce very fragile or non viable fry.
But I think i would still go with ebjd's just not with the intention of breeding. obviously they will probably breed, but just not produce.

You got it. Genetics can be a real bugger but he lays it out pretty well in that artical. Let us know what ya decide on.
