10 would seem reasonable to me, as long as you don't add more cichlids.
FYI, you have pimelodus blochii, the pictus catfish's larger cousin. They can grow to a foot long so consider removing at least half of them as they get older. Please stock your tetras accordingly as well, as they are also more adept predators than pictus cats.
I wondered why they didn't have the same spot pattern. I might see if the LFS will take them back.
I removed all the "pictus" catfish, added 10 diamond tetra, 5 Buenos Aires tetra, 1 Raphael cat, 1 clown pleco.
Here is one of my smaller pairs. You can see the black blotch and the spot on the operculum on the female.
