Stone dust

So your local pool supply store was able to set you up with this stuff? Mine said the only thing they carry is pool filter sand. Stupid pool store...

Anyways, the S grade is finer than the T grade. If you have soft-bellied fish, then you'll probably want the S grade, otherwise either should look good. And honestly, even the T grade is probably fine for soft bellies, it just gives a slightly rougher look to the sand.

Actually, it was a pool filter wholesaler. They supply pool guys, but I guess I sweet talked my way into some after explaining what I was using it for and how it wasn't going to impact any of their sales or their customer's sales. :)

Yes, I went with S grade because it is a tank with a tigrinus and zebra plecos.

So, the quartz that was supposed to be 3m wasn't colorquartz and after opening 1 of the 4 bags, it didn't seem to have that "ball bearing" quality I was expecting. I called them today and I'll return 3 of the 4 bags (1 is opened).

This led me to search again, and after 3 more phone calls, I found a little mom and pop store flooring installed that has 3 pallets of the S grade in black and 1/2 pallet of T grade in black. I'll probably pick up a lot more than I need so I have some for whatever I decide to do with it. But I found it!

Good find man. If I wasn't already scraping the bottom of the barrel I'd probably pick up an extra bag of each color I used and maybe a 3rd color and a 2nd extra bag of black...just because...Who knows how much harder this stuff will get to find ya know?

So they sent me a sample pack of the S grade and T grade 3m black colorquartz. Definitely going with the T grade. It's the perfect size and seems like it would easily mix with a bit of eco complete in the area under the plants. I'm not sure how many bags I'm going to pick up yet though. I figure 3 will cover the 120, but the 375 will probably be quite a few more. I'm thinking that I'll pick up a few more of the T for that, but if I need more, I may just switch to S grade since it's plentiful at this business.
