I see a lot of people bashing chain stores in here. I would never go to Walmart or Petco, but I have bought several fish from petsmart. Several of the people in these forums (including myself) work at petsmart and if they are like me, they try their hardest to keep everything healthy. LFS and chains both go through die offs and have problems such as employees that have no knowledge or just want to make a sale. Please do not accuse me of trying to put my LFS out of business, because I shop their regularly and talk to the owner quite frequently. Does anyone here feel like sharing any experiences they have had at a chain or a LFS? Good or bad? I am just curious. If you really want to, put your best and worst in the same post.

At our local petsmart, they go against policy and have an "adoption" tank.
They had a 16" clown knife that they gave me because I could give it a good home. All of the fish I get from there are awesome, and they have good employees.

Thats good to hear, except for the adoption tank. Lemme guess, is it a marineland 90 show euro with sump on the back? That is the big tank we have in our store. It is used during the summer to hold koi and now it has fantails, although I would prefer to put the Oscars in there.
thats realy cool about the adoption tank. as far as my FS experiences not much to tell. they let you pet the fish in their big tank tho

PetSmart by me is very well staffed. The people know what they are talking about. No B/S. The tanks are always clean and maintained and I also have to say that the women at this particular PetSmart are very attractive, "Nickie, I love you!" LoL

Thanks, I try. Well I try to be very knowledgable, but the good looks. I dunno, because most of the people I deal with are people like me haha but I am glad you like petsmart.
i use the petsmart aroud here to get deals off of mis labeled fish but other then that eh they know very little about. probaly all i could tell u in 2 mins, but i did happen to buy a nice midas off of them ill post pics of it later i just sold it.
my LFS has a pretty good knowledge of fish but they can exagerate. like i was going to buy 3 yellow lab cichlids and they were all like "you can't get those becasue they will eat everything" i know they are arressive but "eating" the other fish was a little overboard.
