For the record, I bought my fx5 on eBay, but the cheapest I could find locally was over $300. I think it's important to support your LFS in this economy, and it also allows you to develop a relationship with them for possible future discounts. They will remember the guy that bought the fx5, especially if you chat them up. I pretty much never pay sticker price now that I have been a repeat customer at a couple LFS.

I bought an FX5 online. It was on Amazon, $235 with 2 day delivery, no tax. The best deal I found at LFS was $350 + tax. I understand supporting the LFS, but everything is at least double the online price. I am spending about $200/month on supplies/food/etc, I just can't reasonably spend an extra $200 just to help them.

The OP said his LFS has them for $259, so that's why I suggested he buy from them. The price difference is really small, and you get the benefits of adding to your relationship with the LFS.

I understand that. I am just giving the specifics in my situation. I could have gotten one from Ebay for about $20 cheaper, but felt more confident in Amazon.

I don't disagree with your position, but I think a lot of this depends on the LFS. I have mixed feelings about the ones in my town and question the ROI on that relationship and gesture. There are some top notch LFS in nearby towns; 2 are 40 miles away and 2 more about 60 miles in the opposite direction.
