STORM AFTERMATH! hope everyone is well

A "big snowstorm" around here is any storm where all of the grass is covered in snow. We get like one ice day a year and nobody goes outside because nobody can drive on ice.
A few years ago we had a really cold year, though, and there were trucks along the Interstate coming down from Tyler that had icicles all over them, chariot-spikes of muddy ice on the hubcaps, and ice sheets all over the hoods. Saw a very confused vulture pecking at roadkill that was iced over. Also saw multiple cars that had gone off the road, had the ice melt around them, and then had been frozen in again.

I got abot 18 inches. The driveway was about 24 inches because of the wind. I took my Jeep and went forward and reverse 20 times and did most of the shoveling that way.

Hello; Only had 10 to 11 inches on the ground here in Northern Tennessee. (The Tri-State marker where TN, KY & VA meet is about five miles away.) Got down to around six (6) degrees F one night. I burned some firewood Power stayed on for me. I got my 4x4 out yesterday and the driveway was the more challenging portion as the snow plows had piled up a berm.

I spent some time with a snow shovel. I also spent a few hours cleaning off a back awning, about 12 feet by 30 feet, as last years snow collapsed building and such. Not sure if it was necessary but got a few workouts.

I-75 was shut down for around a day in the northbound lanes near London KY ( around 50 miles north) stranding thousands. Saw footage of the National Guard pulling big rigs and cars out and getting aid to the stranded.
I always travel in the winter with some emergency supplies and never get below a half tank of fuel. The list has expanded to include a cell phone and a charger now a days. Other things include a folding shovel, reflectors, dry socks, extra gloves, head covers, water and nutrigrain bars. I always have at least a heavy winter coat .

I was lucky with this storm. My guess is there will be another storm or two along a similar path judging by the pattern so far. This storm appears to have followed a similar path as did the major rain/flooding event did some weeks ago. It was cold enough to produce snow, sleet and freezing rain this time.
My area is expected to have temps in the 50's F by next weekend. This could bring another mass of moist air into play and set us up for more snow if cold air gets involved. I hope it does not happen or that the next round is less intense. I plan to re-stock and cut some more kindling..

To our fellow forum members who lost power and are not able to report yet, best of luck.

Thank God for snowblowers. I spent Saturday sleeping and doing my water changes, and we had the house cleaned up in less than an hour on Sunday.
