ok so i recently picked up a new arowana on thursday because my old one died. hes been doing great in the tank until yesterday i noticed him not swimming. hes still alive. but he seems to just hang out in the water current near the filter. and every now and then ill catch him rubbing his back on parts of the filter. like he'll let the current take him and his back will glide against the filter part then he'll swim forward a little and do it again. also he hasn't really been eating much at all. is it possible for fish to get an itch and hes just scratching his back? or is he infected with something?

How strong is the current and how big is the aro? Is it because the current is too strong and the aro is trying to fight a losing battle with it? Otherwise, I suppose that it could be some sort of infection. If it were me, I would probably throw some salt in the tank and maybe bump the temp a little bit just to be safe.

well since the first day i got him hes been swimming in the current like he loves it. and now all of a sudden this so i dont think its the current. ill go pick up some salt from the lfs later

well its been a few days and i havn't seen much of a difference. i dont really think it has anything to do with him in a new enviroment because the first few days i had him he was swimming around the whole tank and adapted too it pretty quickly. and now this. he doesn't even swim anymore. he just hangs out in the current and he used to eat maybe 5 pellets 3 times a day but wont eat more than 2 a day. im kinda worried that he might die or something. any input would help dearly

How can you get ammonia= 0? You had 3 fishes in the tank, then you add another one, shouldn't you get some kind of ammo, nitrite spike after a few days of the new fish?

It's possible that the filtration can handle it ...but there is something going on there...
