Strange Aro Activity

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah my filtration is great. i just have a single emperor 400 handling that whole 70g. well i found out what it was. i caught him hanging out so i put a light directly infront of him. he has a slight case of ich. i ran to petsmart and grabbed some Rid*Ich. i added the proper dossage and raised the temp to 86. he seems to be doing better. his tailfin is straight white and he rubbed his top fin off. i dont really mind the fins and stuff cuz i know they'll grow back. i just dont want him to die. but i just did the second treatment about 20 mins ago. Once i run out of rid ich im gonna try some aquarium salt since i heard it was better. any input would be helpful. thanks guys and hopefully he makes it through:(

ok so i did a quick 25% water change and after i filled the tank back up i added some aquarium salt. the temperature now is 85 in the tank. my arowana keeps on floating vertically (his head is at the top of the water level and his tail is just dangling) whenever i catch him doing this i quickly tap the tank just so he can keep on moving. how long will the salt take to at least get rid of the ich itself?

lol everything is fine, but whats a wallys? do you mean wal mart? anyways its been a few hours now i he seems more active and seems less irritated. he actually ate 2-3 pellets. right now he is just swimming back and forth but i can still see some white spots. every now and then he'll do the inverted float thingy but he quickly starts swimming after that. things are finally looking up. its barely been a week and this aro is already giving me a heart attack

It may take a week or more to rid the tank of all of the ich. I'd also throw in an extra powerhead or airstone to keep the oxygen level up in the tank. With the higher temps and stuff the dissolved oxygen in the water will be less.

cool. ive already seen about a 80% increase in activity. his appetite still isn't up to par but just seeing him swim more is totally a relief. thanks everyone
