Strange bubbly things in water....

Don't use a bubble wand near an intake.
Make sure the intake is completely submerged. Rubber adapters MUST be fully submersed in water
Make sure the gasket makes a proper seal by reducing the media amount. Don't stuff it till its full, give it some room inside.

Air in = air out. You should be able to see if bubbles are coming out of the outflow or not.

Looks like the intake is too close to the bubble wand. Check out this link from Hagen regarding FX5 troubleshooting.

I feel like a total idiot I missed that.. The intake is inches from the bubble wand

Ok, I feel so much better now! I was worried it was something serious. I never thought about that bubble curtain! I'll move the intake and see if it clears up. If not, I'll remove the fine filter pad from the fx5. Thanks everyone for such great insight and advice!
