Strange hole on Flowerhorn

nitrate tests are done as directed in the API Kit, and i shake all bottles hard before i use them. As a side note i have tested my friends tanks with the same kit and returned nitrates, so i know the kit works and is not contaminated.

As for my media a use a special type by Cermedia which isnt commonly used and is dismissed a lot, this has been proven time to provide a sufficient, slow moving, oxygen free platform for Nitrate removing bacteria to grow, see this link http://www.cermedia.com/marinepure-technical.php

As per the instruction table in the above link for a 100gal tank you need 1 block, I have 12, according to my conversations with te CerMedia technical support, it takes 3-5 months to cultivate enough bacteria to efficient Nitrate removal, which i have to say i concured with, my particular tank took 12 weeks to see nitrates stop increasing between water changes, then after another 4 weeks my nitrates started to get less per week, and 4-5 weeks after that i started finding that there was no nitrates at all being detected.

back to the fish, what i have done so far is added salt to the tank @1.5g per litre and Epsom salts @ 1 tablespoon per 20l

Another side note: the cloudyness in the picture is not bad water, I am running 2 Eheim bubble defusers in the tank, and the bubbles create a very fine mist

Update, today it is even worse....any ideas....I need to use something strong on this....but I only have the medications in the op....i don't think it's Hex, or HITH.

I would move to a methlylene blue baths. not to be used in the tank, and metroplex or kanaplex in the tank. I would go metroplex first.

follow directions on the methylene blue, this will stain any porous surface it comes in contact with.

I know you are not considering water changes but that would be the first thing I would do before starting any meds accept for the methylene blue baths.

i have no issue with water changes in the slightest, im just saying i have no nitrates lol.

Im in australia, and methylene blue is very hard to get pure... the only thing i can get is:

http://www.thetechden.com.au/Blue_Planet_Multi_Cure_500ml_p/el052.htm

and it has:

Malachite Green 0.40mg/ml
Methylene Blue 4.00mg/ml
Acriflavine 2.00mg/ml

if i am bathing the fish it states the dose rate of: Use 0.25ml (5 Drops) per 1 liter

if i pull 5l tank water into a bucket i should be adding 1.25ml of the Multi Cure, is that correct? Also how many times a day should i bath him?

For metroplex or kanaplex, I cant get these, I only have pure Metronidazole, but not much, rather than adding it to the water column, can i make a food soak and feed the fish directly?

do you have a 5g bucket, 5g=18L

Out of the meds you have available to you a potassium permanganate bath is the only one that may be an option. What form of pp do you have? Liquid or powder?

bath twice a day. 15 to 30 minutes. malachite green is hard on the fish. I would not do more than 15minutes.

the metro is fine. its all the same stuff. dose per instructions.

I have powder, I have microscales so I can weigh very accurately.

I can get Methlyne Blue as pops suggested.
