Looks like java moss

now you mention it , it does look a bit like javamoss.
its clear though and more of a jelly like thing and if you think of javamoss it grows its "leaves" close to the main branches and on both sides, whereas this stuff seems to grow its "leaves" on only one side and a bit further apart.

maybe it is linked though , would be interesting if anyone has any more info

I have it too. No idea what it is.

I suspect some form of hydra. Its colonial, grows in both the dark and day light...

Its in the sump and two canisters for my 450 gallon tank. To the best of my knowledge I don't have it in any other tanks.

I have been meaning to get a good look at it under a scope, I just haven't yet.

It could be a species of dinobryon. Under a microscope it looks like small colonies of flagellated protists. It's a form of golden algae. I had a ton of it growing on my tank, but nothing that macroscopic.

Some of mine were hard and was even difficult to scrape off with my fingernails.

It does look like a trail of eggs I guess...
