No i have nothing to take a video with, But i have emptyt the tank for 80% zo she isnt floating that much annymore. I hope this way the air will release and it will be nothing serious. I gues making a small hole with a needle isnt a good idea?
Definitely not. if anything you could try touching it to see if it hurts her. if it doesn't then it's probably an air bubble. I would raise the temp a couple degrees and add a little Epsom salt.
The same thing happen to my ray when i first got him. He was in bad shape, started him on blackworms to get him to start eating , then moved to raw shrimp thats when the hump started. Then a day or two later his back end started to lift up. I thought he was a going to die, did some research and found it was just an air pocket build up in the stomach. It was from the shrimp but like i said he wasnt in the greatest health when i first got him, but about two days after his back was floating he came back down and started eating blackworms again waited about a month before switching foods again on him. got him in tip top shape switched back to some shrimp never has happened again.
This is a very informative thread it's awesome others pitched in pictures.
I never seen this before my guess is something is broken and inflamed or infected really bad .
This is very common believe it or not, its nothing more than trapped gas, leave it be it will expel it in no time at all, try changing the diet, some pellets cause this and too many worms also, you will find the ray acts normal and feeds ok too, this is because it aint ill, its simply just stomach gasses that are trapped.
I have had and seen this many times over the years.
mine eats her own poop sometimes and that same exact thing happens. add a little salt. if if didnt see it with my own two eyes i would have never beleived it. she is one nasty ray lol
