goota love chimeras, best fish on the planet! The Aquarium of the Pacific in longbeach california has like 4....i love um!

Awesome. I am going to visit aquarium of the pacific on Thursday. Florida aquarium also has them.

I suppose that would make them keepable, but just remember Aquariums have an immense ammount of money and could presurize the tanks to suit there deep sea environment.

Guppy mentioned Goblin Sharks, this is a True Goblin Shark

They would require a serious chiller, some species require near freezing temps and the common species are most common in waters in the 50 F range. Some large public aquariums keep them but I don't know of any in private tanks.

Yep, that is the true goblin shark, not at all common.
Chimearas are sometimes called goblin sharks the same way longhorned sculpin are called bullheads, just a local common name.

i think u could keep a few without much trouble, the pacifc ratfish is known to come up to realtivly shallow water...... still thats pacifc ocean temps, so id say like 55-60 degrees wouldnt be too bad, so on a 400 gallon ratfish tank u could run a few 1hp chillers :grinno:

as far as pressurization goes, once they r brought up to regular atmospheric pressure, they dont need high pressure to survive, and seeing as how they come in to shallower water they dont sem too dependant on the higher pressure levels.....

someday, when im retired, i plan on attemting to catch and keep a few of these in a huge (1000s of gallons) system, as ive stated before, my absolute favorite fish ever!!!!!:headbang2
