Strange, sudden , develpent in midas lips

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i had a red texas that got duck lips, and i was able to cure it atfer a month. i lowered the temp and then used clout. 100% water change and new pill everyday.... worked really well.

Update

Barred is completely healed.

Yellow with significant improovement.

Just cold water, salt and epsom salt.

Well, i would say the Barred one is off the hook...

Eats normally more than one week already and behaves perfectly normal.

The yellow one is not quite so mended, allthough behaving perfectly normally and lively

I still think this was the result of badly done lip lock.....( no training these solos....)

I came late on to this thread but i cod have told u i did not think was ducklips. Ive dealt with duck lips twice. And one thing i saw with each case it kills quick. Fish for from healthy , to both swollen lips (which does resemble a lip lock injury except its even swelling) then they dont eat act reclusive for another another day or two then die. Ive never really had a fish with it that would last more than 3 days and not deteriorate quickly.

Glad to here yours rescues are fine :)

Thanks my Queen. I wondered about your silence, but then thought you were somewhere hoarding fiah and buying a car :)

Great to hear they are doning well, Muguel.

Woofy when you had the issue did you immediatly drop the temp below 75F to retard the growth and sperad of the bacteria? I'm asking because if you don't it wiil kill the fish quickly but as soon as the temp drops the bacteria growth slows dramaticly. Which is what I beleve Miguel did, however I have no way of knowing with any certantly weather Miguel's fish had Duck Lips or not. Better safe than sorry in this instance.

Yes sir i did. I found that it prevented further spreading but those fish already not eating and acting reclusive were already to far gone. I did however have some instances where fish that seemed to start getting were able to recover. I also dosed with furan 2.

Mine went immediately - as soon as i noticed the swollenness - which obviously was the day it appeared, to cold water.

Dosed liberally with salt and epsom salt.

But again, i guess it never was ducklips....we will never know however if i stopped it in advance.

Update

Yellow is off the hook.

Lips entirely normal ( as remain the Barred's ).

Fish were always nomal and lively, even accounting to low temps....

I think this is it and the issue is solved.

:)
