Hi guy

Came home tonight to this

should I be worried? And if so what should I be doing?
Water tested ok, ph was maybe a little high at 8.
The ray is eating fine.

it happens do to water quality and 8.0 ph is a little to high for him no salt needed just do 25% water changes daily but his tail most likely will not grow back

Thanks for that.
I always do weekly water changes, so what actually causes it? Ammonia, nitrite or what?
Do I just have to watch this take it's course or can I stop it getting worse?
Finally will he die from this?

he can die if it gets worse and even sometimes things we do or happen cannot be explained but i highly suggest the water changes everyday and keep a close eye on him as long as he is eating then you should be ok but just watch him it must be your wtaer unless you have a fish in there that is bulling him when your not around or when lights are out

Do you have any other fish that would pick @ its tail? FRT Fly River Turtle.

Ah right, no frt, the other fish are silver and Asian green aro, plus a recently acquired jaguar.
I'm pretty annoyed by this as I "over" filter the tank if there is such a thing and religously water change every week.
When thing like this happen it knocks your confidence a bit, and you can't help but feel like I've maybe done something I shouldn't etc.
