Strange thing happening to Ray tail

It's a possibility, so if that's the case then it's not tail rot, more like the J nipping him right?
If I can prove it is the J then I can relocate of course.

So that part of the tail dropped off past night, he still seems happy enough, eating etc.
Should I be doing a course of melafix now incase of infection etc?
I'm always wary of treating the water for fear of upsetting the other tank mates.

Its not tail rot. It dioesnt look like that after a few hours. one of the other fish did it... I also suspect the Jag.

Thanks for that, kind of restores my confidence a bit, as I thought I may have had serious water quality issues.
Anyway should I now melafix to prevent infection?

I'd prefer salt over Melafix.

looks like the tail got bit pretty good. the dead part of the tail fall off and the part that is staying will heal over.

i would just do a few extra waterchanges and he will b fine
