I have some Argentine swords in my 125 gallon that I planted about a month ago. They look great and seem to be doing really well as they have turned a darker green since I purchased them while they were light, almost yellowish, green. Being curious, I looked under my tank with a flashlight to see if I could spot any roots growing wildly. The are several roots showing at the bottom of the tank on the glass and they look like they are white surrounded by brown streaks. Is this normal? I was under the assumption that the roots would be mostly white.

Nope. This can happen. Question would be do you fertilize this tank in any way? Specifically with root tabs? What is your substrate?

Plants are in sand. I use root tabs and some liquid ferts every water change. I recently got some MTS to help move the sand and aerate it. I had my dad look at it as he is quite the gardener and he thinks that they look fine but he's never done water plants before so I'm not sure if I should trust his judgement.
