Do not buy a bike with an extended swing arm. It takes the entire cornering functionality out of the bike. It only goes in a straight line and corners at 1/5 its normal ability while decreasing ground clearance by lengthening the wheelbase. Also, do not buy a totalled bike unless you ride it at highway speed first. A simple bent fork or triple clample at 60 mph can throw you into a tankslapper of death on the highway. Just my .02 as a long time rider.

I wouldnt go as far as to say 1/5 of its cornering ability, but it definatly will take some away in that department, if you arent gonna be taking it to the track and as long as you ride like you have some sense, the normal 4-6 inch stretch wont hurt you.

U won't notice a huge difference especially if you havnt ridden very much. Plus u can always buy a stock swing arm if u want. eBay is magical place

Well its an extension kit, not an extended swing arm. He has the stock chain so i can put it back to stock in less than a half hour. So thats not a problem

If this is your first bike expect to drop it. I wouldn't go buy something pristine with no scratches or anything on it. Get you some good gear and never ride without at the least jeans but I recommend getting reinforced jeans. I have been riding over 5 years. The day I decided I was just going to school I didn't need my jacket, I went over some trolley tracks that I had gone over 100's of times before and my front tire locked and face planted me. My first bike was an 00 yamaha yzf thundercat. I believe you should by your bike based on how you think they look because to be honest you wont be good enough to push it to the point where the differences are noticeable. Depending on how your going to ride a good set of tires also goes a long way. Sign up for a safety course because it can teach you things that may later save your life. I included just a few pics. My bike is an 08 gsxr 1000, keep us updated post pics when you get it and stay safe!!

I have been working on sport bikes for years now and have a side business where I modify and work on all kinds of bikes. My opinion would be to get a zx 636. You can get them a lot cheaper then the new 600's, they have a lot more useable power, and are a lot more comfortable. I am not a fan of suzuki's, I just don't like some of the engineering on them. Hondas are good all around bikes but lack the performance of the yamahas and kawi's. As far as the extended swingarm goes, anything 4-6" actually smooths out the ride. The longer wheel base allows the bike to handle bumps in the road better. You won't notice much of a handling loss either. In the GP world they try to shorten the engine length as much as possible to get a longer swingarm on the bike just for handling purposes. The only difference is they are keeping a shorter overal wheel base.
