I know that this kinds of questions have been asked a million times here, but I was having trouble finding answers by searching. My silver dat has been stable since I bought him a couple of months ago, and he switched from feeder guppies to krill (frozen and freeze-dried) but shortly before I introduced some new fish, he seemed to start to lose appetite, and began to get "splotchy." Now he's ALL splotchy, and hardly eats. He used to beg frantically for me to feed him, but now. . . I know silvers prefer brackish, but plenty of people seem to have kept them in "fresher" waters. I don't go all the way brackish, but my water is a bit salty for fresh. I thought maybe he wants something else to eat besides krill, but of course he's a picky eater. Any thoughts?

how long has this been going on?

mine is doing just great in FW

Has anything about the tank changed, other than the newest tankmate?

EDIT: Even water parameters...any REALLY bid water changes or chemical fluctuations.

What size tank, and what filtration?

my dat didnt like the brighter CF bulbs when i switched over; it took a while for him to adjust

Yeah, he hates it when the lights are on, and goes to hide in a little plastic cave that he barely fits in. But sometimes if I just leave the lights on for a little while, he starts to overcome it.
I do weekly water changes, but I just did the math on it, and maybe I'll change a little more each time. For filtration (55 gallon), I use an eheim 2215 and the cheap little topfin 60 gallon HOB that came with the tank. Both filters have been cleaned in the last month or so. But not too close to each other, so it can't have killed the bacterial colonies. Besides, he's the only fish acting like this. Actually, as I'm typing this, he's swimming around more, but still ate only a little bit this morning.

I plan on getting a second canister to replace the cheap HOB. And yes, I'm upgrading to a larger tank this summer. :)
