Saltydog - They have some Venezualian pikes at Forest Lake Pets in Minnesota. They told me they would only reach 8" - HAH! They also have Xingu I and lucius there labeled as Orange pike and white pike. The Vens go for 14.99 for 3-4", 24.99 and 19.99 for the Xingu and White. Aqualand in Minneapolis has Belly Crawlers for cheap.

Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela' are commonly sold as strigata...so thats what they most likely are, especially at those prices. Strigata are gonna demand a higher price...
I have to severly disagree that they aren't the most attractive of pikes. Quite the opposite actually, as some of the strigata variants are more colorful than MOST pikes!
