Sorry for constantly making these species-specific, dead-end threads like this, but I randomly encountered a link to these guys at sharkraycentral and I was amazed that no one seems to have mentioned them here.

They look like some type of thornback or guitarfish.
Does anyone know anything about these guys?

I saw these two... wicked cool. Other species of guitarfish seem to do well in right sized aquariums. I think they're awesome... I wish I had the tank space.

Personally I'd avoid oddball elasmos like that. 99% of the time they die. Not worth supporting taking them from the wild just to lose them.

They are more similar to a thornback ray or butterfly ray than a guitarfish.

I suspected as much :(
I'm sure someone will pick it up before long though. If they do, they should post it here. I'd be very interested in seeing more of them.

In LA's defense, they do tend to get their specimens eating and established before listing them... that's helpful info though. I hope whoever snags them has the proper setup.
