are these the real thing lfs was selling them as pleco's for 4 bucks and banjo cats for 2.50. and can you post pics of yours and how big they get.

yep thats them and good luck finding pics in the tanks, lol. they hide ALOT. see mine every few months if i'm lucky. so toss em in and forget you got em, they are like xmas in july when you see em again
 
lfs says they only get 4" but i have read they can get up to nine. did i pay too much for them.
 
These guys love to hide and grow slow. CHeck out the spotted raphael's. Ive got a 4-5'' striped raphael and a 3.5" spotted raph. They are super cool and are mainly nocturnal....You'll see them cruising at night from time to time. Real hardy catfish as well.....My striped raphael is probably a good year and a half old.
 
I feed my raphael after lights on in the morning and after lights off at night. I'm glad it goes out of hiding whenever there's food. I guess they learn quickly their feeding routine...
 
Price seems right to me. I have one and it will not show unless it is feeding time. A disappointment initially most of the time.;)
 
i thought mine was eaten twice but then reapeared later in the year. now its like a special treat to see it 3 times a year
