thanks for the advice sir..what would be a better substitute for the raphael? the one that doesn't stab..
I wouldnt worry about the fin stabbing, people pick them up on occasion but there is not much of a need to.The thing with them is that they are nocturnal so you wont see much movement out of them during the day.The stabbing is only a defensive action and a lot of different cats do it so just get what you like and try not to disturb your fish.

I had one a while back and had to change its tank...as long as your careful when do have to handle them you'll be fine. There pretty neat fish.

The biggest one I've seen was a good eight inches.I didnt even think that it was a Raphael at the time.

thanks again for the help guys... hope the ones that i'll be buying tommorow are the passive ones... cause i've heard that they are pretty effective in cleaning up the mess in the tank, and cute too!

nice technique! i'll buy 3 of those tommorow and try your technique, i hope it works for me!!! if not! i have to bear the pain! haha!! cause i'll put them first in a different tank and grow them to adult size and then put them into my main tank to join my other fishes.

I got pinch by my 8" Stripe raphael catfish before. It doesn't hurt that much. I have lot of Doridae species in my tank and they get bigger than Stripe raphael. I sometimes grabbed, just don't grabbed them close to the pectoral fin. It will pinch you. They make that clicking sound too when you take them out of the water.

Just don't touch them... and DON'T use a net. I used a cup to move mine into a larger tank. It also helps that they like to wedge themselves in ornaments when you try to pick them up. It was a bit help when i moved 'em :)

thanks alot men....help appreciated!!! i'll get the fishes later!
