Anyone have info, or feedback on Striped raphael cat (Platydoras costatus)? A friend is moving and wants to give me his fish. Just not to familiar with this one.

greedy fella who eats till his tummy is round always.otherwise hiding most of the time....pretty and cute fella i muz say

i have a spotted raphael cat( agamyxis albomaculatus) it gets to be about 6" hides a lot, eats a lot (feeders and sinking pellets) the other day while cleaning the tank i spotted him and his belly was sticking out as tall as he was! piggy! not real active durring the daytime, but allways a rare treat when i see him at night.

They live about 25yrs. Hardy. Hides alot. Eats in intevals, such as he will eat till his tummy is almost bursting then he/she will hide till get hunger again. I say take it. Good little fish to put in any tank with tankmates it can't fit in mouth

your stripped/ talking cat fish is a nacturnal speice , a beutiful fish that is prone to ich if stressed alot . mine make's a clicking noise some time's at nite if your a foot or more closer to the tank you can hear it .. most fish will leave it alone thanx to the spines along it's tail when this fish is large caution is needed with handeling barb's on tail my prick you!.. anyway's if you are being givin this fish take it ,it is a nice additon to any carnivorius tank etc good luck with it....
