It might just be different personalities among dif. fish. Mine is out all the time looking for food. It's about 3" and has grown maybe an inch in over a year and a half. I think he is out more because he has more compotetion for food w/ 3 other cats in my African tank. Lots of hiding spots w/ a pipe being his favorite, also allowing me to see him alot since it is close to the glass. I also run an Actinic cycle at night. Thats when all the cats come out. Frozen krill and brine really seem to bring out the cats as well.
wow holy crap! i had some they were about 4-5 inches, very hardy fish. mine enjoyed blood worms and sinking shrimp pellets........they are now virtual titiens catfish
I've had my striped and spotted rapheal catfish for about 2 years now. If you want to see them more than once a month, you will need a moon light in your tank. If you step quietly into the room at night you will see them very active cruising all around the tank.
