stripeless congicus normal??

both are about 11" right now... so i guess they're both juve which looks like a nigerian lap... but i hope they are congicus... if not.., i'm gonna have to buy one... =(

definitely a P.b.lapradei!

A very good way to see here a phenomenon that is quite common with laps:
Older injuries (also from not so harsh injuries - but more obvious when happened in an early time of development!) often heal out with melanism (look at these black spots!) especially on P.b.lapradei!
In those other cases the headshape of the P.b.lapradei is very characteristic. I don't want to come here with percentual dimensions from eye to gill and so on ... look at all thes pics collected in this forum by several members. You will "develop an eye" for signifikant things that will help you recognize a bichir.

There is no chance of hoping that they will become congi. It's a nigerian lap. It's best to get them from a reputable dealer such as Toyin as you'll get the bichir that you want.

i'm gonna go ahead and order the congicus from that site and the p. endlicheri... might as well have a collection... hehehe.. but i'm really glad that this P. lap can grow up to 30"... i'm tired of small fish..heheh
