Im trying to find what the best thing to feed this fish is. The store I got him at said sinking algae wafers, but online there is a lot saying they like shrimp and krill and are more carniverous

I have two marbled raphael which are similar to your striped raphael, I feed them shrimp pellets and small pieces of worms. (the raphael's are juv's).

I've tried algae waefers before but they never seem interested in it.

ive had a few of these fish and they seemed to like just about anything, ie pellet, flake, blood worms. They had competition from tank mates though, so i would feed them before or after i turned of the tank lights. side note when i gave one to a friend as i was takeing it out of the tank it started making a croaking sound i knew that they did this just never heard it myself, pretty cool :)

I usually feed my tanks twice a day as I'm trying to grow my juvie's faster. However like delamorte said their food would get ambushed by tank mates. Tonight I moved them into their own grow out tank so hopefully they will grew a little quicker.

btw.. I still have yet to hear mine "talk".

you will never see them.... they will get food.. dont worry

See thats whats odd. Maybe because mine are juvie's but mine are always right out in the open. They have plenty of hiding spots but never use them.

How big do these guys get. Im hopin to have them with an arowana and datnoid. He could be the alternative to the gihugeant red tail catfish that im seeking

I've got one that I've had for over 14 years - still going strong. I never worried about feeding him until I put 13 Syno. multipunctatus in with him b/c his belly was always full, almost bloated looking. As rayman said, don't worry about feeding them, they'll get food. Mine is maxed out around 6".

that prolly means they cant coexist with the arowana or datnoid huh? whats their growth rate? i had one that was as slow as clown loaches. I hope that's not the general case
