What is the best way to catch stubborn largemouth in clear water situations. Today I was using nightcrawlers,(which only caught the small ones :() and a wacky rigged finesse worm. They went for the finesse worm but just couldnt seem to get the whole thing in their mouth. I realy just need help on wjere is the best place to hook a live and fake worm for largemouth. (Spining reel and rod, with braid)

Use a trailer hook. Attach to main hook and it hooks onto tail of the rubber worm. Better chance of hooking up

if they're being really stubborn you want to get as much action as possible and a trailer hook may take away from that, go with a wacky rigged senko

^^ wasnt disagreeing with him just saying it 'may' take away needed action so was giving an alternative if trailer hooks dont work

The ones I use attach to the first hook. Should be self explanatory when you buy them.

Braided line is also very visible in clear water. Consider a fluorocarbon leader with your braid. That may be keeping them tight lipped and too unsure to aggressively strike.

Better check the local laws on the use of the trailer hook. I know in Maryland bay fishing there are rules that regulate the "usage" of these stingers. I got a warning about the number of stinger hooks I was using one time when I was live lineing spot for stripped bass and ran into all kinds of trouble with the saltwater pirannah (bluefish) shredding the bait. Got SO pissed off, that I rigged all the boats lines with multiple stingers to resolve the issue. Although the stingers did not allow the live bait to reach the stripers, it did hook every bluefish that struck. We had dozens of Bluefish within an hour and a stern "warning" on the practice. I can't swear to it, but I got the impression that we only got the "warning" because it was only those PITA Bluefish that we had on board. IMO we would have been a lot worse off if we had wound up catching striped bass that day with the stinger-galore approach!
