I use braid in mostly clear water situations too, and jworth is right the flourocarbon leader works well. I like texas rigs myself and I usually start by leaving a cast out a long time, just bouncing the worm along and picking up the slack. I try to keep a pretty low profile by the water because I'm pretty sure the fish within a 7-10 foot range get spooked when I am right up on the edge of it. I also use a size 2 or 3 worm hook and I try to tear their lip off when I set it. I've noticed my best fish take it on the drop but that could be coincidence. I try to land it in spots that look like they would be prime real estate for a big bass to hold down. Good luck.
