Gday all, I have recently got myself a 7-8'' Endli and the little guy hasnt eaten a thing in almost a week.Ive been throwing in prawn as that is what it was getting fed at its previous owners place.I want to get it onto pellets. how long can this guy go without food? His in a 2ft by 18'' tank by himself in a planted atmosphere. Cheers.

They can go a loooong time, several months, without eating much, maybe a small piece of food every feeding if that.

All you can do is try different food items, maybe leave them over night but be sure to clean out what doesnt get eaten.

I had some wild laps go over 6 months without eating much before they finally settled in and began eating well.

Its only about 4 months old.Is it to early to try to get it onto pellets? I think it will take a while as its not even having a nibble on anything at the moment.

you can use a entice like garlic guard or somethin like that.

Pellets are the first thing my endli's ate. I feed them sinking massivore and shrimp.
I know the massivore seems costly but it last a long time and the benefits from feeding it are numerous.

The decision is up to you, but personally I prefer to find what they will eat, then just keep feeding them that until they hit at least 5 to 6 inch then switch.

At a young age, their growth and development is crucial, so there isn't much time for starving them onto another food (especially for the very picky eaters) otherwise there could be long term damage such as stunted growth.

Its 4 months old but bout 7'' now.it was eating prawn previously.i might try massivore or the hikari sinking cichlid pellets. What do you think guys?

earthworms never fail to get them feeding in my experience. Also it will get longer than the tank its in lol.
Might want to think about an upgrade soon:D
