Stuck in Fluval FX5 hell. Need help

+1, plus add a sponge filter

buy an aquaclear 110 .... and sell the fx5 on craigslist... you will come out even or ahead money wise AND have a filter that's way easier to use... if you want "more filtration "add another hob or sponge filter after you sell the fx5

Update. I bought a new lid (as mentioned) and today I bought two new fluval fx5 aquastop valves that click when you put them into the lid. There are 2 new little plastic "O" rings on the spicket. It still leaks under the bottom of the valve where it meets the spicket. I was assured that the tank and parts worked before being brought over (my coworker's wife wanted the basement redone and there was no fishtank in those plans). Any thoughts??

I would really consider changing filters.. the aquaclear 110($65 on amazon) and a smaller type hob or sponge filter will make life much easier,,,then sell the fx 5 for about 80 bucks(people will break their fingers trying to get to their wallets)... just an idea... good luck..
