I've chosen either the
AquaC Remora Pro Hang-On Skimmer with Drain Fitting & Rio 1400
or the
Reef Octopus Hang on Back Protein Skimmer BH-2000

now i was wondering which skimmer has a bigger collection cup cause i can't find the measurements.
the Aqua C has a drain fitting that allows me to connect it to a auto waste container so it doesn't overflow if im on camp or something. ( can someone correct me if i'm wrong).
And it has a pre-filter box :D

and the octopus has nothing extra..........

the tank is a 180g + 65g sump that isn't going to be stocked heavily.

it all comes down to the collection cup fitting and how the drain fitting to a bigger collection cup works.
so if you have experience with these skimmers, it would be great :D

My brother has owned both.

He likes remora better.

Especially for someone that is new in the hobby.

All aquaC's come with some sort of drain fitting if I am not mistaken...easy to set up. I am surprised that ReefOcto doesnt...that is a crucial design error if they dont.

im not that new to the hobby, kept fish for a few years already.

if you could take a pic of the drain fitting that would be great, cause im wondering how it fits to a auto waste system.

If you have a sump why get a hang on? But o recommend a reef octopus.. I've heard nothing but good about them and own one myself. I'm on a reef forum and people say the remoras are loud and not that great so idk about those haven't had any exp with one tho

I don't know a lot about the smaller skimmers but I own an Aqua C EV 2000 and it's a great skimmer and makes me willing to try there other products. I am sure this doesn't help you much but its just food for thought.

I have a skimmer that i could put into my sump, but the thing is my sump is only 18 inches tall and well, the stupid skimmer is taller and then i can't put the lid on. then the evaporation will be hell.
i dont need a very strong skimmer, i only need 1 that can look after a 120 gallon tank.

sometimes im away for a bit and i need know if the collection cup is big enough, cause i don't want it to overflow

Well for a tank that big you are going to want a pretty good sized on.. But do you have lids on the display? It's better to not use lids so that you get a better gas exchange especially in a marine environment. I picked up an ato system for like 60 bucks and it works great. But that's just my two cents

Just cut a little hole in the top of the lid of the sump so you can fit the skimmer in it. You will be much happier with an in sump model as opposed to a hang on back.

If you are coming to advice about skimmers, you probably havent owned very many.

This is why I recommended them.

They are the only spray injection skimmers on the market, and therefore require no tinkering to get your bubbles just right.

Hard to beat idiot proof.
