I looked at my P Bass today and he has some white looking stuff on his fins. I also have a blood parrot that has the same thing. Can anyone help me with this. its the firsttime i have had this happen and i dont know what it is.
Thanks,
Robert

Need pics to determine. Check your temp. If the problem is fungal, boost your aeration and raise the temp to 84-85F. Treatment with a mild antifungal agent such as Maroxy would be a good 1st step until the actual disease is determined.

here is a picture of the blood parrot. i hope this helps i could not get a good picture of the P Bass.
here are my water results
PH 7.0
nitrite and nitrate 0
ammonia safe
temp around 80

thanks,
robert

that is a really bad case of ich... act fast

+1, get that temperture up in the tank and add aquarium salt.....Do this after a water change, change about 20% every other day, keep the temp up and keep salting.

yes... that is a bad case of ich... there are tons of ways to cure ich and alot of meds you can use.... as for my expierience w/ my pbass raising the temp to 86-89F would burn the ich of of them... but in your case i dont think your parrot can handle temperature like pbass can.. so i would bump it up to only 84-85F. and use coppersafe, it reacts to ich fast and cures them in no time.. if you do choose to use coppersafe which is sold @ any LFS or petsmart/petco... make sure you read the directions carefully and do not overdose... its a capful for every 4gals, so... however much you need leave 20 gal extra! IE... you have a tank thats 125 gals, only put enough copper for 105 gal... k...

well best of luck whichever direction you turn too... & wichever you do MAKE SURE YOU READ DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY..

dont mean to inquire on your reply.. my fellow MFK'R from STRONG BEACH...
but i think its goin to be difficult for him to keep the temp up too ?... when water changes are going to be done everyother day... just IMHO...
and make sure you dont put too much salt.. KEEP IN MIND wareagle you have fresh water fish...lol.. read directions again when addind salt.... best of luck bradda;)

ok i bump the temp up. my question now is will my red tail catfish handle the salt?? from what i have read the P bass and other fish will be fine but not much on the catfish.

RTC should be able to handle the higher temps. When my Pbass had ich I raised the temp to 88 and it didnt phase my RTC at all.
good luck!
