The tank looks VERY natural and "in-environment" looking. Adding tropical plants would take away from that. I STRONGLY suggest you try some mangroves - they'd fit in PERFECTLY with the whole "root look" and all that.

Not trying to make a sale, but I sell mangroves, so...

It's just that the whole feel of the system would feel wrong with, say, a spider plant... You know?
I imagine that the mangroves that you sell are still growing. Do you sell any dried up root sections for hobby or garden use. I had to ask cause if you do you have a new customer. I have a 240g that I want to go BIG on! Ive been looking for an xxxtra large centerpiece or two, and mangrove would be insane.

Hey Rob
You'd be surprised - wild mangroves do not have those wild root buttresses until they are very old. The average size I saw was 8 to 12 feet, and their roots were mostly aerial roots about 2 inches in diameter. Nothing to put in a tank, really. I'm anxious to see what happens with these babies though. Some of them have really cool root balls.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE MY AVATAR PIC YOU WILL SEE WHAT I DID......., i CUT UP A RECENTLY DEAD RHODENDRON SHRUB AND STERILIZED AND CUT IT TO SHAPE. i THEN CARVED OUT AREA OF THE WOOD TO PLACE GROWING MEDIA AND PLANTS. (THE PLANTS ARENT IN THE PIC)

So it looks like today I'll be experimenting on a 10g tank. I picked up one from Wally world for $7, so if it breaks or something goes bad.. whatever. I'm probably going to pick up a bag of Eco-Complete substate aswell, and maybe (but not likely) check out that swamp/marsh thing by the school. If I do that, I'll get some pictures. If I don't do it, I have nothing to take pictures of.
