Never been stung by freshwater rays but been tagged by some cortez rays and lion fish.

I got stung by a bumblebee catfish really really hurt!!

It all depends if you are stung with a skinless stinger or a skin covered stinger the later being the worst pain I have felt.. well not really but close.. I was stung by a 6 inch hystrix with a perfect skin covered stinger and it felt like someone was crushing my knuckles with a pair of pliers... after about an hr or 2 it would subside but when I used the hand it would come back.... after 3-4 hrs I was ok..

granted im no wussy I broke 6 ribs last year and had 12 inches of my intestine removed and afterward I blew chunks and opened the 12 inch inscision down the middle of my abdomen open.....I know what pain is and the ray sting wasnt the worst but it wasnt a walk in the park.

ps to the guy who posted he was stung several times while moving rays around.. you are either fibbing a lil or you need a new technique lol I was foolish enough to get caught one time and have moved hundreds and hundreds of rays and I handled em like dry goods lol I didnt pay too much attention....
