As above, it is definitely a deformity - or at least, an abnormality. First thought is that it was cramped, but when you say that he's a year old, it is almost definitely not because of being kept in a small tank.
Which means either he was injured, or he was born with this as a genetic mutation.
But yes, if you like it then don't worry about the 'quality' of the fish. After all, you're keeping the fish for yourself, so if you've liked it, no reason to stop liking it just because it turns out to be a deformity.
If he's swimming fine, eating fine, basically thriving despite the kink in his spine, then imo keep him or at least pass him on if you really don't want him, but yeah really no problem with keeping him.
