hes about 3-4 years old (guessing) since i had him for about 3 years but i got him hes was already 1 years old,and hes about 7-9 inches,he eats dinachi pelets 2-3 times a day and i change his water evrey 3-4 days about 20 %

you can teel stunted fish from normal ones from their eyes...older fishes have smaller ones compared to young fish of similar size. and its fins and colors are more developed.. i had a fh thats over a year old but is only 4inches long....it died 3months ago..

Growth is based on water quality and feeding regimen, not tank size.

I suspect your 20% water change regimen would cause subpar growth rather than the small tank.

If you start changing >50% of the water each time, I suspect he will continue to grow.

Can you elaborate a little more on why water changes help fish grow, I agree with the food part but i am confused with the water change part.
