I don't know about keeping it in there for life, but I'll be ok for a couple years. I usually try to keep fish in tanks that are atleast 3 times the length of the fish itself, so once the dovii hits 20" it'll look pretty cramped. That shouldn't be for a long time though, and you'll be lucky to have it get much bigger than that.

Once the Dovii hits 20", the tank will still be 3 times his length. It's a 60" tank so 3 x 20"= 60". If he seems too cramped I guess I will have to make other arrangements or sell him. I think I'll give it a try.

If not for life for a very long time. Go for it!

For life ? no. For a long time ? yes.

A fully grown adult male id personally keep in something 8'x4'x4' if I had the time and space. Its a big fish and if you seen any video's you'll see they go after anything that moves at full speed, and id hate it to bump a tank edge too hard, and too often. But to be fair thats an extremely large tank... I think for life, a 240g might do the trick well.

I would go for it. Leave him by himself as a glass banger. Freak ya friends out. I would move him once he hits 18-20" pronto. But shouldnt be for 4-7 years. If not more.

give it ago dude! if the filtration is spot on and there arnt many sharp edges from wood/rocks he should be fine...keep the tank bare n simple and u'll be right! make sure u post pix!
