Stupid Fish Cusomer or Stupid Store Owner

THe problem is, that most of the people I get are def. NOT interested in upgrading from their already MASSIVE 10 gallon tanks. When I do get people who have the 55's, they usually talk about how aggressive their Oscar is and how its so mean that it'll kill anything you put in with it.

And i just don't know what to say to them. So I don't really bother.
 
Learn the latin names of common fish. Once you start speaking a language they don't understand you get a lot of respect.
I would tell them that Astronotus sp are known for that. They are also considered game fish in florida. btw They live 15-20 years and get big. Have you met my lovely freind the "live bearer"? how about some anual fish like gold wonder killies? If you like mean fish how about Pea Puffers.
 
I whip out some scientific names. Either that or I tell them about my 350 and BAM, they start listening. :grinyes:

I love that "MASSIVE." I got that a lot when I worked at PetsMart....yes, I have a HUGE tank, and then said person would point to the godawful SpongBob SquarePants 1.5 gallon.

At my favorite lfs, the fish guys are awesome, but the cashier man sucks. When I picked up some cories there, said cashier (who is not allowed in the fish depo for now obvious reasons) made mention that these guys were great algae eaters, and would eat fish waste as well. Scares me to think what other bs he told other customers... :P
 
A couple came inti the store with some water for me to test from their tank.I tested it and the sample could not be read.I then asked them what size tank and what was in it? They said a 7 inch oscar,ten gallon tank.I told them you need at least a 55 gal tank for the poor oscar.They said they weren't going to get him (oscar)a l;arger tank.So I said bring him to me.Because if you don't he is definitely going to die.The next day I got a new oscar. :(

Hey... I don't question the costomers reasoning... just laugh at their stupidity. I think thats what I'm going to do when I become old and decrepid.
