stupid fish keeping addiction

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i don't go visit the fish anymore... :(

nice to see im not the only one with little-no self control with buying fish. its the only hobby i CANT say no to buying stuff for.

worse part is, my girl likes watching my fish now too, and even reads up on ones she wants. absolute worst part, she likes big stingrays and expensive cichlids/oddballs :irked:

after just seeing that ive spent over a eek of my life on MFK in such a short time.......let me add, STUPID MFK ADDICTION:D

I so feel the pain of the addiction! Maybe someone on here should start a 12 step or an FA or something. I'll attend.

That's a bummer...Ya got to go just once in a while...

Beats being a "naked fat kid in a dopehouse" anyday!...

I'm not so sure. I've been a "naked fat dopey kid" trying make out with my girlfriend while eating icecream in a dopehouse on more than one occaision. it is pretty awesome. the guilt the next day? that's another story.

You're no where near the only one.

Just yesterday I bought a freshwater Crab at this really nice monster LFS that just opened up in my area.

I think the solution is to just leave your wallet at home.
that doesn't work with me :irked:
i have been visiting the same lfs (2 of them) and they are happy to give me credit too :banhim:
so i just have to keep myself busy and not go to the lfs right around the corner of my house, may be i should work two shifts and then i might be busy enuff

Try working in a petstore for long enough that everyone knows you. And knows that you have a soft spot for rejects. Much too frequently I hear, "I don't want this anymore, it's too big for the tank." " This bird is mean, if you can't take it We will just let it go." " I can't afford to keep this dog, an eleven year old dog with medical issues stands a good chance of adoption, right?" And don't get my wife started on how I still have to go to other stores, because we only carry a limited selection. Yes it's an addiction, but as addictions go, pretty harmless. Dependent on your significant others attitude of course.

This thread is funny, and true at the same time. Yeah it can be an addiction through and through. Once you become accustomed to getting new fish all the time, it's hard to stop yourself. Once and a while I get this insane urge for a new fish. Either I crack and go buy one (or two), or hold out and let the symptoms pass. It's a constant struggle.

yeh i have to hold myself back all the time cos i only got the one tank so i have no where to put any poor choices.
i see fish all the time i want but its my wife that drags me away before i do something stupid. i nearly put a down payment on an 8ft tank at a garden centre, she seen me talking to the sales guy maintaining it and the look in my eye. that could have been a very expensive day. she was not impressed to put it in a civilised way. i have very poor self control so she acts as that little (she only 5' tall bless her) but very loud voice.
its just so damn hard.
