Stupid fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the thing is no one will come near him... He is over 6 inches and scares the crap out of the other fish... now he is scared of ever shadow in the house, unless it is me and my wife... but almost no one visits...

I treated the tank with some salt and metfix or whatever it is called... and no help... he then knocked over a rock on my red peacock trapping it.... I saved the peacock, but after leaving the light off all day to help... I came home to a dead fish... even dead the other fish were scared to come near it... they normal jump on a dead fish... sad loss, but I have a few more growing out like it... keep my fingers crossed... all other fish are fine.... actually now that he is out of the tank they stopped hiding and are showing better color... the other tank he was in now everything is out in that tank... He scared those fish too...

I am growing the algae out... getting a bristlenose soon, want him to have something to do... plus I am add two tanks next to it and I only clean the sand, the front and one side...

Hope he heals up he is a really nice fish ! You might try to make all the cave as big as possible so he cant squeeze in to a small spot (probibly impossible).

Man I sorry to hear that he was a sweet fish . My condolences.

Hm, well hopefully it is the only time this happens to you. I ended up having to move another of my guys (red fin) to a 55 with nothing he could hurt himself on, it took ~ 2 months till he would come out and eat in front of me and he is still jumpy.

All my fish went into shock like that one time and were hitting things left and right. I moved them all to an empty tank and lost a few. After taking most of the water out of their origional tank, I realized I let my pH get too low. I never though fish could go into shock because of pH until it happened. Could it have been an internal parasite?

Sorry for the loss.

He use to be in a tank with a colony of fronts large colony and a few other larger cichlids... the lil guy... He never really took too well... other tank mates of his are doing great.....

Interesting. Maybe it was his time.
