stupid hawks

I live in an area absoulutely overrun with hawks- i=In fact, I have a pair that comes to breed every couple years and leaves their triplet chicks to spy on our rabbit. Amazingly, our rabbit has lived outside for eight years, only staying in when there was rain and coming in at night, and he has never been bothered by the hawks (Although we do catch them looking at him). But, now that I'm considering putting in a pond (Well, more of a tub really), I'm wondering what the effects will be.

get one of those devices that is motion sensored, anything that goes near the pond will be squirted!! worked well for a friend of mine w/ the same type of problem (ie: bird and fish problem)

the redtail hawks that are around my area, san diego, seem to only hunt pidgeons and rodents. never have seem them take anything as large as a rabbit or koi. just use the net over the pond and it should be ok. i did have a customer that had a bad blue heron problem. he actually moved from fishing line to netting then to electrified barrier. very wealthy guy with very exspensive koi.

shooting a hawk is not very smart advice.. some hawks are endangered species.. all hawks are not equal.. some would cost you a very hefty fine plus jail..just a few of the endangered hawks i know are Galapagos Hawk, Hawaiian Hawk ('lo), Puerto Rican Broad-Winged Hawk, and the Puerto Rican Sharp-Shinned Hawk but there are others.
