i bet you werent the only person he was rude to. to fire him on the spot, he must've been acting like that to numerous people.
ok, when he first said he couldn't sell you the dat well he was only trying to do his job. from your story it doesn't sound like he was rude at that time and really shouldn't have pissed you off that he was just doing his job. However, the "don't undermine me" part was ridiculous. If he had a problem with you buying the fish he should have taken it up privately with the other employee and not with you, the customer. For that comment he definitely deserved either suspension or termination. Apparently the management decided on termination.
