Just wondering... If i took a sponge from a filter from a fully established freshwater aquarium setup that has all the beneficial bacteria... and used it for a saltwater aquarium, would that help at all with the cycling process for the saltwater aquarium??

That is not a dumb question. I have no proof to support either a yes or a no but i lean heavily towards a no.
Actually I have heard it would help establish a colony of beneficial bacteria. I just wanted to say stupid (shrug because you may be right emoticon probably not shown here
