Two different water types with different chemicals and minerals. The bacteria will die off and add stress to the saltwater tank and start the bacteria process over once freshwater bacteria is dead. Equipment shouldn't really be switched in tanks anyway with out sterilization. Its a good way to transmit parasites and disease amongst tanks.

well saltwater parasites and diseases are also different from freshwater. One of the best ways to treat saltwater ICK is a freshwater bath. That would be an interesting way to start your cycle by using the dead bacteria to create ammonia
