Keep in mind, its very hard to get needlefish off live food.

If you have any tankmates that eat live food, you will have a problem getting enough food to the needlefish without overfeeding the tank.

I don't think anything large is a good tankmate for a needle fish. Maybe some loaches, plecos, pictus cats, corydoras.
