STUPID STUPID CLOUDY WATER!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im no expert, but i would check water paramaters and that will probably reveal the problem. without knowing for sure whats causing the cloudy water (other than a massive bio-load from cats and oscar) its impossible to recommend a solution.
I would check ammonia, nitate/nitrite.
Then go from there to fix the cause of the problem.
Im guessing that its just the massive bioload causing paramaters to go outta whack which may be able to be fixed with some added bio filtration. but check water first.

Cats and Oscar? Those gars drop deuces literally the size of my index finger lol.... Thank you for the very detailed feedback i appreciate it man.

well i've never kept gar myself so i couldnt really say much about that lol.
Let us know what you find out if ya test the water.

One thing i use when im havin issues with beneficial bacteria dying off from medcation, or cleaning filters or what not, is stability i think its made by API (too lazy to go read the bottle at the moment), or bacterial supplement by microbe lift. both do a good job of re establishing the beneficial bacteria.

I bet its bacteria die off from the medication that caused the bacteria bloom. make sure you add some prime (to detoxify ammonia and nitrites). I would hold off feeding for a bit or maybe feed them half as much. You probably get alot of bio load from the beef heart and silversides, because they break down pretty heavy.

Cant get pics up right now... Come to think of it this all kinda started after I put in some ick meds... Ill get my params up on here asap btw to let you guys know.

It's most lightly caused by the meds. The meds killed off the bacterial in the tank. Just give it some time. It will eventually clear up with the regular water change.
