Sturgeon Fish: SHOULD I...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They would quickly die in a tropical tank.

Last summer we had a diaster at work when we had several 5-6" sturgeon in a covered vat, over night the water had got really hot and in the morning we cam in to find all of them dead.

Don't try utting them in a tropical, would be a waste of a fish. They sometimes struggle in coldwater when there's not enough oxygen.

Cold water period....I'll be honest, I thought I could get away with taking care of these baby monsters, but the more "Good Advice" I get from you guys, it looks more and more like a dead end for me. I'm sure I could invest in a Coralife Aqua-Chiller 1/10 HP for about $400.00, but is it worth it for one species?

M|L, Go for it, right!?!? :D

I meant no to your question, "is it worth it". lol

Sorry M|L, I've been home all day today: it's raining out and I'm just taking it easy today with some nice drinks on the side. So I'm a little slow right now. Thanks Though!! :turtle: :uhoh:

What species is this? I am really interested in one and my buddy and I are are about to go collecting and we hope to catch some of these babies as well as paddlefish. We have never caught a stergeon but we caught a paddlefish once. We are more prepared this time and have a good spot picked out so I will keep you guys posted!

I don't know what species. But Good Luck on the Fishing Trip!:grinyes:

looks to be a sterlet, maxes out around 30"...i would get one but my pond may get 90 degrees and that would be catastrophic <sp?
